The Kinks : brothers Ray and Dave Davies shared the stage for the first time in almost 20 years this past weekend, paving the way for a much-hoped for Kinks reunion. The band was part of the original British invasion in 1964 along with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Animals. Their single All Day And All Of The Night pretty much invented modern hard rock while Ray Davies mid-60s compositions such as Sunny Afternoon, Dedicated Follower Of Fashion and Waterloo Sunset set the stage for Britpop. By the 1970s Davies was writing rock operas and by the end of the decade they became a stadium-filling act in the US. The group hasn't played together since 1996
