Peter Templeton has spent most of his life helping other people.
He started age ten clipping the Tuatapere sports field by hand.
Over sixty years later has just been recognised for his volunteering effort, with a community service award for all his work in the far south west.
He tells Lynn Freeman about conducting funerals single-handedly and helping the young ones get along in his favourite sport, wood chopping.
