Gisborne District Council Director Community Lifelines, David Wilson has the latest on the water leak, which plunged the city into immediate water rationing, how did this happen and what effect has it had so far?
He says the broken water main will be back up and running by mid-afternoon, Friday 15th.
The pipe was fixed this morning but a large volume of water needs to be flushed through before full access is restored.
Residents have been urged to conserve water since yesterday afternoon.
