Wastewater woes: Consent sought for overflows in Queenstown

The purity of lakes in the Queenstown district could be under threat by a resource consent being sought by the Queenstown Lakes District Council to discharge wastewater into the region's freshwater bodies when there's an overspill - essentially a  blockage, breakage or overcapacity in the network.

Both Wanaka and Queenstown draw their main drinking water supplies from the big lakes. Joining Kathryn to talk about why the Council is seeking the consent is Ulrich Glasner from the Queenstown Lake District Council and Don Robertson from Guardians of Lake Wanaka who is calling the plans a "license to pollute".
