The Government hasĀ officially classified drought conditionsĀ over all of the North Island, parts of the South and the Chathams as a large-scale adverse event. A $2 million package to support farmers will be available through to June 2021. Kathryn talks to Jim Galloway, president of Federated Farmers Hawke's Bay and Winton Dalley who heads up the Hurunui adverse events committee about what the drought designation means. She'll also talk to NIWA meterologist Ben Noll about whether a cyclone forming around Queensland might deliver any relief for New Zealand next week.
