Holiday home and AirBnb owners in Christchurch say moves by the Council to regulate their sector are anti-tourism and unfair.
Christchurch City Council is moving forward with plans requiring short-term rental accommodation providers to apply for a one-off consent at a cost of at least $1000.
The proposed changes to the District Plan have come about after pressure from the motel and hotel sector, concerns over the impact of short-term rentals on the housing supply and the changes to neighborhoods from the turnover of temporary visitors.
