Sexuality and intimacy needs of aged care sector residents

From Nine To Noon, 9:32 am on 20 November 2020

A three year research project across 35 aged care facilities has concluded consistent workplace policy on intimacy and sexuality is necessary and would impact on residents' quality of life and their ability to live life fully.

Massey University Social Work Professor and lead researcher, Mark Henrickson says his team is now working with elder homes and some are already producing podcasts, training videos and other resources to educate their staff.

Residents and family members were also canvassed during the study.
