From her home in Auckland Stella Bennett, better known as musician Benee, has been able to grow her pop career despite this year's disruptive pandemic.
The 20-year-old singer/songwriter was meant to be touring and promoting her debut album Hey U X, but Covid forced a rethink on that.
The 2019 'Supalonely' single gained traction internationally with radio play and garnered a huge audience on Tik Tok and resulted in Benee being invited to perform, albeit remotely, on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon and also on Ellen.
It was also a year which included a huge haul of awards and accolades: she won Best Solo Artist, Best Pop Artist, International Achievement award and Single of the Year for her smash hit ‘Superlonely’. She also won the 2020 APRA Silver Scroll award for her single 'Glitter'
It's been a huge couple of years for Benee and her success so far has also resulted in her Mum, Tania Anderson, becoming her PA.
Benee and Tania joined Kathryn Ryan to talk about how her career soared in a year the world was locked down.
