Former Prime Minister Jim Bolger met the Queen on several occasion both as a minister in Robert Muldoon's government and later as Prime Minister.
Despite being a committed republican Bolger is on record saying the Queen had done a remarkable job in her role as monarch and head of the Commonwealth.
