Tā Tipene O'Regan is a kaumātua, Ngāi Tahu leader, Treaty negotiator, academic, and Member of the Order of New Zealand. He was also co-convenor of 2011 Constitutional Panel.
Tā Tipene says the Queen's recognition of the Treaty was instrumental in helping Ngāi Tahu with it's settlement claims and she was very aware of the impact that recognition had.
