The International Court of Justice has rejected a South African request to impose urgent measures to safeguard Rafah in the Gaza Strip. Israel says it will press ahead with a ground offensive. And violence is escalating in the Democratic Republic of Congo as the decades-long conflict there moves into a new phase.

Finally Debora looks at the 'dark valentine' vigils held across Kenya this week, to protest rising femicide cases in the country. More than a dozen women have been allegedly killed by their partners within a month.
