Data released by Inland Revenue shows a new multi-million dollar technology upgrade is making a big difference in curbing tax fraud.
One of the largest and most ambitious of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, the 1.5-billion-dollar business transformation programme was completed in June last year. Since then IRD has screened ten million tax returns using the new tools which identified risks in more than 200,000 tax returns and stopped them for manual review.
