It's nearly three years since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.

Nato estimates casualties on both sides have exceeded one million and the United Nations says nearly four million people have been displaced.

Russian forces have slowly expanded the amount of territory they control over the last year, mostly in the east of Ukraine.

But Ukrainian forces have made those advances as slow and difficult as possible and even staged a counter-offensive into Russian territory.

Meanwhile there is uncertainty over what a Trump presidency will mean for US support for Ukraine, and how Russia's withdrawal from Syria could change things.
