Intensive dairying
For many Kiwis, dairying has already become a dirty word with effluent running off farms and fouling waterways plus the untaxed greenhouse gas emissions being responsible for a large proportion of this country's carbon footprint. Now a dairy farming group is proposing an intensive form of dairying that critics equate to the factory farming of our 'clean green' product. Protagonists see it as an efficient enhancement to one of this nation's most important forex earners. We hear various sides of the debate.
