Philipp Meyer is an American author of two books. His debut novel American Rust set out to explore the decline of the middle class in the industrial northeast of the US. His latest novel 'The Son' follows the lives of three generations of the McCullough family in Texas. It has been described as an epic journey, taking the reader from the wild American frontier through to the Civil War before ending up in the present day.
