Writer and broadcaster Sian Prior on shyness and social anxiety

From Nine To Noon, 10:08 am on 4 June 2014

Australian writer Sian Prior has maintained a career in the public eye, as a broadcaster and performer, for more than twenty years. For far longer than that she has suffered from excruciating shyness and social anxiety. Eventually, after bolting from a party in a state of near-panic, she decided to investigate her condition, to find out what shyness was, where hers came from, and why it creates such distressing emotional turmoil - often behind an assured, professional front. Sian Prior's memoir, Shy, was published in June 2014 by Text Publishing.
