Sharon Van Etten, has released her fourth album, Are We There, this week. Having grown up in New Jersey, Sharon Van Etten made the move to Brooklyn, NY, where she became part of the local music scene that includes TV On The Radio and The National. Members of both bands have been instrumental in helping Van Etten get started as a musician. Sharon's 2009 debut album, Because I Was In Love, was a sparse, intimate affair, with folk influences. By the time of her just-released fourth album, Are We There, Van Etten has developed her sound into what could be described as "chamber-pop" while becoming a much more confidence vocalist.
