Queen's Birthday Honours: Ruth Aitken

Another person being celebrated today under the Queen's Birthday Honours is one of New Zealand's foremost netball talents. Ruth Aitken has been at the forefront of New Zealand netball both on the court and on the sidelines. As a player she achieved three international caps and later went on to coach the Silver Ferns from 2002 to 2011. She led the team to victories at the 2003 World Netball Championship and the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games. Today's it's been announced she will become a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Netball.
