As we have heard on RNZ over the last few days, the pork industry has been getting increasingly concerned about the growing number of surplus pigs on farms that can't be sent to independent butchers and has been urging the government to help.
The Agriculture Minister, Damian O'Connor, has conceded the current arrangement - where butchers can process pork, but only supply to supermarkets - isn't a perfect solution.
