One person's trash is another person's treasure they say.

Artist and fashion designer Jeanine Clarkin has taken that idea to the next level.

She's of Ngāti Paoa descent and has been living on Waiheke Island for the past 17 years where she's been diving, observing and collecting data on the invasive seaweed Caulerpa.

Transforming the weed into something truly special.

Perlina spoke to Jeanine who's at the Venice Biennale.
