Choosing Life - Part 1
Mark Dowd explores what it means to choose life in the face of crippling illness and pain. In the first of two BBC Heart & Soul programmes, he meets Alison Davis, who is suffering from several conditions so painful that they often leave her unable to move, speak, or even think.
For about ten years, she was adamant that she wanted to die and she would have asked a doctor to help her if that had been legal. But more recently she found meaning in her life as she began to explore the Christian faith and she tells the story of what helped to change her mind and to choose life.
Alison explains why she is taking a stand against the campaign in Britain to legalise assisted dying for adults with a terminal illness who feel that their life has become or might become unbearable. (BBC)
