Sonia Sly heads to the Boys' and Girls' Institute (BGI) at Troupe House on Dixon Street in Wellington. It's here that young people from the age of eight into their 20s head along to take part in mentoring and youth development programmes. Some have been referred by government agencies, whilst others attend the activities and programmes on a voluntarily or self-referred basis. Although BGI has roots in Christianity, staff and volunteer mentors come from diverse backgrounds, but the common thread, is their shared goal of improving the lives of young people in the community
