All this month on Standing Room Only we're talking to the people behind the shortlisted exhibitions for the Walters, New Zealand's top art prize - a glimpse into some of the most exciting artwork being created in the country. Pati Solomona Tyrell is known as a cofounder of art collective FAFSWAG. Only 18 months ago his shortlisted work for the Walters Prize Fagogo, was his graduate exhibition from his degree with the Manukau Institute of Technology. It was later shown at the St Paul Street Gallery in Auckland and Dunedin Public Art Gallery to acclaim. Mark Amery spoke to Pati about his work. The Walters Prize exhibition opens at Auckland Art Gallery August 18.
