In the 1990s, revered abstract painter Gordon Walters befriended a young Christchurch artist, Chris Heaphy. The friendship led to collaboration on some artworks and they even got to the point where they could honestly critique each other's paintings. Chris hasn't talked much about their close friendship until now, but a retrospective of Gordon Walter's paintings on show at the Auckland Art Gallery New Vision has brought back memories for him.
