Show Me Shorts screenplay winner Judith Cowley
The Show Me Shorts awards were announced on Saturday night. Kiwi filmmakers Sarah Cook and Josephine Stewart-Te Whiu took home the Oscar-accredited Department of Post Best NZ Film award for their moving short drama Ani, about a girl and her Dad left behind. Their cinematographer Maria Inés Manchego was also awarded the Panavision Best Cinematographer prize. Walk A Mile won the Best Screenplay Award. It's the first film by Judith Cowley who also directed it. It's a very personal story for Judith, based on the death of her baby daughter and the support she received after that unthinkable loss. Lynn Freeman skyped Judith in Philadelphia to talk about it.
