9:10 Upset at the ASB Classic Women's Final

Former world number one women's tennis player Naomi Osaka was forced to withdraw from the ASB Classic singles final in Auckland yesterday after suffering an abdominal injury.

It's a bittersweet end to her comeback performance, a year on from giving birth to her daughter, and left her opponent Clara Tauson of Denmark shocked.

ASB Classic tournament director Nico Lamperin joins Anna Thomas.

9:30 Auckland Zoo steps up to save Sumatran orangutans

Sumatra in Western Indonesia is known for its incredible biodiversity - the tropical rainforests home to orangutans, tigers and the world's smallest rhinoceros.

But these animals are also all critically endangered. The continued demand for exotic pets and rhino horn combined with deforestation, has left many homeless, caged or dead.

Conservation of this precious part of the world is a global effort and with recent flood damage to crucial facilities at an orangutan rescue centre, New Zealand is stepping up, with Auckland Zoo funding $30,000 NZD towards recovery.

Amy Robbins is the deputy curator of mammals at Auckland Zoo - and an orangutan expert - and tells Anna all about the conservation effort.
