Aucklanders are divided on a brand new piece of public art at Queens Wharf.
Michael Parekowhai's 'The Lighthouse' is a two-storey weatherboard house that closely resembles the old-style New Zealand state house.
Some believe it's an obscenity at a time when people are literally going homeless for lack of state housing, while others see it as a pointed comment on Auckland's housing crisis.
Associate Professor Linda Tyler is Director of the Centre for Art Studies at The University of Auckland, where she teaches, writes, and curates exhibitions at the Gus Fisher Gallery.
