Christchurch residents will have to put up with chlorinated water for some time yet, with the council admitting its plan to remove the chemical hasn't yet been given the tick of approval it was hoping for.
What was supposed to be a 12-month chlorination period has ballooned into an ongoing, multi-million-dollar water upgrade programme.
The Christchurch City Council has a plan before a panel of water assessors that, if approved, will allow the council to take all of the chlorine out.
But the head of Three Waters and Waste, Helen Beaumont, told Logan Church that the initial feedback they've received from the panel is that the plan won't be approved when it comes back this month.
