Zealandia - Takahe
The rarest of numerous endanged species at the Zealandia sanctuary in Wellington are the South Island takahe. T2 and his long time partner Puffin are advocacy birds, which means they’re no longer needed as part of the Takahe breeding programme so they can go to sanctuaries like Zealandia to live out their twilight years. But against the odds, for the past two years, this older couple have nested and produced eggs in their new home.
