It's one of those cruelly ironic events - when an eagerly awaited play about our health system by one of our leading playwrights was cancelled by COVID. That was the fate of Things that matter by Gary Henderson, almost exactly two years ago. But now it's been resuscitated - and it's given Gary a chance to tweak it for a post Covid audience. Perhaps there's a message for our struggling healthcare system, that no matter how bad things get, where there's a will there's a way. Simon Morris talks with Gary Henderson about the world premiere season of Things That Matter which plays at ASB Waterfront Theatre from 11-27 August 2023.
