Moana House is a Dunedin-based rehabilitation treatment programme for adult male offenders. Takurua Tawera teaches the men coping mechanisms within a Māori kaupapa framework to help overcome addiction and behavioural issues.
The ultimate goal is that the men are able to ease back into their communities. Takurua explains whakaoho (self-awareness), mohiotanga (self-learning) and mana motuhake (self-determination) with Justine Murray.
