When a tikanga or practise is lost due to colonisation how does this knowledge system emerge in a contemporary world? Kahu Kutia is with Kauae Raro a wāhine Māori arts collective based in Whakatane who use the natural environment to create dyes and paints reminescent of what their tupuna used.
Jayden Rurawhe is a co-director of the show 'He Tangata' staged in Wellington during Pride Week. As a creative, Jayden says there were no stories that represented him as Takataapui which was the reason the show explored cultural identity, decolonisation alongside the critical dance practise of vogueing.
Kahu Kutia is in Whakatane and Wellington with this week's kaikorero to explore the reclamation of Mātauranga Māori.
