Oturu School

From Te Ahi Kaa , 6:45 pm on 18 May 2014

A little country school on the outskirts of Kaitaia measures its success by the way their students engage in the school activities that they have had a hand in creating and managing.

Maraea Rakuraku drops in one morning during parakuihi, which can host 30-50 kids each day. Fruit trees and beehives at the school are harvested to make jam and honey, and it is all prepared by the students.
