Last week’s student-led Climate Strike protest at Parliament in Wellington was a colourful event on a dour, damp day. Collected here are some photos from the occasion.

Arguably student protestors have the most creative banner slogans: "You know it's a problem when it's hotter than me", "If you don't believe in climate change your mom's a hoe", and "Hot climax not hot climate".

Often also, unusually for protest banners, with careful punctuation.

When James Shaw was finished organisers invited the attendees to the mic, and a surprisingly wide array of ages lined up and delivered impassioned and sometimes comic messages, in this case "I want a hot goth girlfriend, not a hot planet."

Undaunted by the weather, the open-mic speakers were heartfelt and articulate; even the tiny ones from primary school level. The crowd responded in kind.
