Some people think the band's name is her name - they're wrong - but the mistake is understandable. Ardijah's lead vocalist since 1980 has been Betty-Anne Monga. At 15-years-old, the singer joined a covers band after being spotted at a talent quest, and Ardijah were soon writing their own songs and the Poly Fonk sound was born. Now with over 40 years in Aotearoa New Zealand music, becoming a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit and opening the Auckland Arts Festival programme, Betty-Anne chats joins Susana Lei'ataua on Summer Weekends.
