As we face a possible jobless future, what do you train for? Do you go to uni or not?
British research has found half of the students who started a degree last year were the first in their family to go to university, and for the first time, the number of students whose parents didn't attend university matched those from wealthier academic backgrounds.
Critics say too many students are being charged "outrageous" fees and social mobility isn't improving. There are too many graduates, there's saturation in the job market, growing numbers are being forced to take roles they are overqualified for.
Nick Timothy, a former adviser to Theresa May, accuses universities of running a "Ponzi scheme".
