The Government and the agriculture industry have come to an agreement where farmers can avoid being shifted into the Emissions Trading Scheme if they commit to a new sector led plan - called He Waka Eke Noa.
Farmers will improve their tools for estimating and benchmarking emissions on farms, will commit to more R&D on greenhouse reduction technology and other initiatives.
