It's the 50th anniversary of a very special album that changed the story of conservation globally. Songs of the Humpback Whale was released in 1970 and clocked in at a full thirty four minutes of pure whalesong. It was recorded by a team led by bioligist and environmentalist Roger Payne and the recordings were used extensively by the campaigners working to end global whaling. Since the ban was put into place in 1986 Humpback whale numbers have recovered to roughly one hundred thousand. Rob Kelly is in to review some whale song with the panel and see if Wallace Chapman knows his Blue whale from his Beluga.
