Sinead Overbye - whakapapas to Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki, Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Porou and Te Āti Awa - was born and raised in Gisborne, but now lives in Wellington, where she spends her spare time sitting in her lounge and staring at the sea. Her writing intertwines reality and magic to create worlds that are slightly askew from the one we know and recognise.
For her MA, Sinead wrote a collection of short stories centred around queer young women navigating 21st Century life. She is currently completing a mentorship with the New Zealand Society of Authors, and also holds a position as Kaiāwhina Rangahau at the New Zealand Council for Educational Research.
