Ngati Wai chief Paratene Te Manu begins to recount the time he and a group of high-born North Island Maori spent in England. In a trip organised by Wesleyan Jenkins, 14 Rangatira set sail from Auckland in 1863, sharing cramped berths in a voyage of 100 nights.
