It’s the Chinese New Year of the Horse. Lynda is in Auckland to learn more about one of the most popular annual festivals in the country. From humble beginnings fifteen years ago with some second-hand lanterns and a modest audience of 10,000 – to glowing archways and international acts from China, packing out capacity crowds of several hundred thousand. The beautiful and historic Albert Park in Auckland has been the home to the Lantern Festival since its inception and now the Festival is an iconic part of our country’s cultural makeup. Lynda chats to Jennifer King, (Director of Culture, Asia New Zealand Foundation) and other key people who have been there since the very beginning.
