The former cabinet minister and founder of the Maori Party Dame Tariana Turia and Dr Gareth Morgan, economist and Founder of the Opportunities Party are the 2017 Waitangi Rua Rautau lecturers.
They continue the series launched by the New Zealand Maori Council in 2003 as a way of monitoring the rebuilding of harmonious relationships between Maori and Pakeha by the bi-centennial of the nation in 2040.
