Episode 165 features an interview with Ben Waters, an English virtuoso Boogie Woogie Piano player who in 2011 released a critically acclaimed album called “Boogie For Stu – A Tribute to Ian Stewart”.
Ian Stewart, who passed away in 1985, formed the Rolling Stones' with Brian Jones as the original keyboard player. Stewart was later shunted aside by the Stone's manager Andrew Loog Oldham in 1963. Why? He wasn’t good looking enough and they never had six people in a beat group. Ian Stewart continued to work with the band as a road manager and his piano can be heard on all the Stones classic albums up until 1985. Stewart also recorded piano with Led Zeppelin and many others. This heart felt tribute album took on a life of it’s own with contributions from Jools Holland, PJ Harvey and all of the Rolling Stones. Sales from Boogie for Stu were donated to the British Heart Foundation.
