Episode 218 features an interview about the late Scottish musician Martyn Bennett who passed away from cancer aged 33 on the 30 January 2005. Martyn Bennett was an influential piper, DJ, producer and live performer who's legacy is still celebrated in Scottish music. In Glasgow in January 2015, the Celtic Connections Festival marked the tenth anniversary of Bennett’s passing with an orchestral recreation of his last album Grit, which was a fusion of traditional Scottish song recordings with electronic samples and beats.
The orchestration for the Celtic Connections Concert was arranged and conducted by Greg Lawson, a long-time friend of Bennett’s who joins us to talk about this remarkable musician.
