Episode 218 features an interview with a long-time friend of the late Scottish musician Martyn Bennett who passes away from cancer aged on the 30 January 2005. Bennett’s legacy was an influential piper, DJ, producer and live performer who’s legacy is still celebrated in Scottish music. In Glasgow in January 2015, the Celtic Connections Festival marked the tenth anniversary of Bennett’s passing with an orchestral recreation of his last album, Grit, an album which was a fusion of traditional Scottish song recordings with electronic samples and beats. The orchestration for the Celtic Connections Concert was arranged and conducted by Greg Lawson, a long-time friend of Bennett’s who joins us on Worlds Of Music to talk about this remarkable musician.
