The Ministry of Education has received almost 3000 submissions on the proposed closure of a Christchurch primary school.
Part of a large cliff behind Redcliffs School collapsed in an aftershock in June 2011.
Education Minister Hekia Parata wants to close the school, but it and the community believe the site can be made safe.
The school's 200 pupils are sharing classrooms at another school 3km away.
Information supplied to Radio New Zealand News under the Official Information Act shows 2769 submissions have been received.
The ministry is not releasing details on the level of support of opposition to the proposed closure, saying a report will soon go to the minister.
