The organiser of a jobs fair in Dunedin says it has been a success, despite there being more jobs on offer than job-seekers.
The mayor of South Otago's Clutha district, Bryan Cadogan, organised the fair at the Dunedin Town Hall this afternoon after finding local employers had at least 500 positions going.
Most of Clutha's major employers were represented, including Silver Fern Farms, Danone, Calder Stewart and the Otago prison.
By 5pm, about 80 job-seekers had had a seven-minute interview.
Mr Cadogan says he is stoked with the outcome, which he says is a new regional approach to connecting people in the labour market.
He says it's not handing out a pamphlet but is actually a first job interview, because the process is sometimes made more difficult than it needs to be.
