Vector is defending the level of compensation it offering to customers who were affected by a major power cut in Auckland last year.
Some people were left without power for more than two days after a cable fire at a substation in Penrose last October.
An Electricity Authority report released yesterday found Transpower and Vector should have identified the electrical failure that caused the fire.
Vector's chief executive, Simon Mackenzie, says the $50 the company's offering households and $200 it is offering businesses is adequate.
