The police are hunting for two men on the East Coast following a shooting at a rural property last night.
The police said the men, one armed with a rifle, tried to force their way into a house at Waerenga-a-Hika, about 10.30pm.
They said a man in the house confronted the pair at the front door and a shot was fired.
The Police said the man was injured in the leg by bullet debris, before the offenders drove off.
