A Christchurch city councillor says the fate of the earthquake-damaged AMI Stadium can finally be resolved now that a major insurance settlement has been reached.
The council and its insurers have agreed on a total settlement of $635 million, two-thirds of what it initially claimed.
The stadium has been one of the biggest points of disagreement, with the council arguing it was damaged beyond repair and the insurers saying it could be fixed.
Raf Manji, who chairs the council's strategy and finance committee, said it would now be much easier to have an open conversation about whether the stadium should be repaired or replaced.
